Creating Interactive Flash Interfaces for Surveys and On-line Data Collection with Custom ActionScript & Perl/CGI Programming

California Teachers Association wanted to run a survey to collect data from their membership with a more interesting interface than typical html forms. DreamLight created a custom interactive Flash presentation to make the survey process more engaging. Using Flash’s ActionScript programming, we built context sensitive branching into the survey so that the questions presented are modified based upon answers to previous questions. This enabled us to keep the survey as brief and to the point as possible. We also programmed custom Perl/CGI scripts to enable live server data collection and compilation as well as enabling the survey respondents to automatically send an e-mail to others that may be interested in taking the survey.
