The Autiton Archives™
The adventures of anomalous Autiton™ units 0090™ & 03BD™ who
embark on an epic quest of discovery through the fantastic
digital realms of cyberspace.
Deep in the hidden depths of cyberspace a vast lattice
of instance generators creates an endless stream of software
Autitons to toil away at various mundane tasks for the
duration of their functional lives. Until a freak accident
causes a disruption that spawns an anomalous Autiton unit – 0090,
imbuing him with the curiosity to dare to ask "Why?" 0090
befriends a fellow irregular unit – 03BD, and together
these two misfit Autitons set out through the strange digital
worlds of cyberspace on a quest for answers. The
Autiton Archives™ is a 3D animated series
of CGI shorts to be released on the Web. It’s
a project with a 20+
year evolution. Ever since the inception of DreamLight
Interactive in 1987 I’ve been periodically researching
and testing the viability of
|
producing an online 3D
animated series with off-the-shelf hardware and software.
Until recently, these tests typically indicated that the technology wasn’t
quite ready to create such a project. The research did however result in
a number of successful spin-off
projects over the years including: DreamLight
Verttice™: An
Award-winning Game of Skill & Strategy, Quipples™: The
Internet Game Show of Satirical Riddles and
finally BlastOff!™ An
Award-winning 3D Animated Short Film.
With the recent success of the test project BlastOff!,
the incredible power of the new LightWave 3D 9.6 UB, phenomenal
workstations like Apple’s 8-core Mac Pro and a direct distribution
link through the Internet, iPods, iPhone and Apple TV, all the
necessary components of technology
have risen to a level that will finally enable me to create the Autiton
Archives series
as I had always envisioned it.
I’m thrilled
to finally be in full production on The Autiton Archives™3D
Animated Web Series. The initial version of the pilot webisode Fault
Effect has been posted and I’m now in production on a more advanced
Director’s
cut
version for the Special Edition DVD. Once that’s complete I’ll begin
production on the next webisode in the series Basic Training.
Please subscribe
to The Autiton Archives quarterly mailing list to be notifed
of updates and future webisodes!
Enjoy the ride,
